For fiction authors, success hinges not just on storytelling prowess but also on cultivating a meaningful connection with the right readers. But how do we find those readers in the vast online realm?

Let's look at 3 key ways you can be seeking out potential new readers and nurturing that relationship without getting lost in the sea of online book promotion.

1. Know Your Audience's Vocabulary

How do your ideal readers describe the books they love to read? Incorporate commonly used words you see on Goodreads, Bookstagram, and Amazon into your marketing material for your book.

2. Connect

Use captions and QOTD’s to connect with readers on topics related to your novel. If you can get someone to say “yes, I love reading books with a found family trope!“, then you can step in and say...

“Then you might like my book!

3. Narrow Your Focus

Writing a fantasy book? Don’t just market it to ALL fantasy readers, but find readers who like very similar titles. Market a vibe, not a genre. Maybe your book is dark a gritty, or maybe it’s whimsical. Highlight those themes.
